About the Author…

Wow. I read Elevator to the Moon by Stanley Widney in Mr. Merk’s fourth-grade class. That was it! I was hooked on science fiction for life. The book was relatively new at that time, so you can see I’ve been reading for quite a long time. But what is life if you can’t enjoy the ride? So, I’ve read lots of books. Not all of them were science fiction or fantasy. How can you find treasure if you always stay on the path? I would never have discovered Amy Tan, Joe R. Lansdale, or Janet Evanovich if I’d maintained a rigid genre standard. I read Harlequin Romance books when they were new and releasing only four books a month. (Yay, Janet Daley and Charlotte Lamb!) And I really did start my serious efforts toward becoming an author by writing on cocktail napkins at a restaurant called Ireland’s while working my way through college.

I wrote my first novel during that time. I still have it, and the rejection letter. It was really bad, trust me. It was also the tiny seed that eventually became the Starchild Series, however. Over the years, I worked, selling bearings and power transmission products — not exactly something connected to a degree in Art — and raised a family. During that time, I carried pencils and notebooks in a canvas bag everywhere I went, and my husband, Sam, patiently did whatever he could to support my ambition. I typed on a tiny typewriter on a rickety stand until the first word processor appeared. He bought me one for $800 (yes, really). I had a choice between two disk formats. I chose the wrong one. The four-inch disk became the standard. Not that it mattered for very long. Progress made all of that obsolete when Microsoft Office appeared.

And I kept reading, and writing, and reading and writing. Because I knew that I was not good enough yet. I vowed I would get there, and when I did, I would publish.

Fast forward to 2021. I did it! I published Taking the Stars. I ordered my author copy and Sam promised to record my unboxing. The day before it arrived, he died of a heart attack. Yes, it was a bittersweet time, and I miss him.

Since then, I have published five books, and I continue to work on new ones. I sort of have ambitions for a romance. (Harlequin, I’m looking back at you.) While continuing to work on a story about the Earth Alliance. I need to polish up Centriforce and release it upon the world, too. So, you see, I may have more to offer in the future.

It is every author’s sincerest wish that you enjoy their work. If you like my stories, please rate them and/or leave a review. As you can see, I have put a great deal of time (a looong time!) into the effort. But it was never about money. It is about sharing an adventure that I hope brings you joy and a smile.

And, just to share something special with you, these are my gals, Meepers (calico) and Itty Bitty (tortie). They came as strays, and stay as beloved companions.
